James-Ward also ran for election to the San Diego County Board of Education to represent District 5 in California. She lost in the primary on June 5, 2018.
Biography
James-Ward earned a bachelor's degree in mathematical sciences from the University of California, Santa Barbara and a doctorate in education from the University of Southern California. Her professional experience includes working as an educational leadership professor at San Diego State University, as a NASA Jet Propulsion Lab engineer, as a public school teacher, and as a principal. She has served as the chief of academic innovation for a local high school in San Diego. At San Diego State University, James-Ward founded the Chinese and American Leadership Symposium and the online master's degree program in educational leadership. She and her husband have two children.[1]
