Cheryl Lohmeyer is a judge on the Monroe County Probate Court in Monroe County, Michigan. She was appointed to the court by Governor Rick Snyder in March 2014 to fill the vacancy created by the resignation of Judge John A. Hohman, Jr. Lohmeyer was sworn into office on March 14, 2014.[1][2] She was elected to the court on November 4, 2014, in order to serve out the remainder of Hohman's term, which expires on December 31, 2018.[3]

Lohmeyer ran for re-election to the Monroe County Probate Court.
Primary: She was successful in the primary on August 5, 2014, receiving 40.3 percent of the vote. She competed against Jill LaVoy and Melissa Matiash.
General: She defeated Jill LaVoy in the general election on November 4, 2014, receiving 54.4 percent of the vote. [3][4] 

Education

Lohmeyer received her undergraduate degree from University of Michigan and her J.D. degree from the University of Toledo College of Law.[2]

Career

Before her appointment to the Monroe County Probate Court, Lohmeyer worked as an attorney in private practice, focusing on family law, estate planning, and probate law. She also previously served as an assistant prosecuting attorney and practiced law with the firm of Lennard, Graham and Goldsmith as an associate attorney.[2]
