Cheryl Turpin
Cheryl Turpin (Democratic Party) was a member of the Virginia House of Delegates, representing District 85. She assumed office in 2018. She left office on January 8, 2020.
Turpin ran for election for Mayor of Virginia Beach. She did not appear on the ballot for the general election on November 5, 2024.
Biography
Turpin received her B.S. in education from Virginia Commonwealth University and earned an M.Ed. from the University of Virginia. Her professional experience includes serving as a high school science teacher. She has been a member of the Virginia Education Association and the National Education Association.[1]

Elections for the Virginia House of Delegates took place in 2017. All 100 house seats were up for election. The general election took place on November 7, 2017. A primary election took place on June 13, 2017. The filing deadline for primary election candidates was March 30, 2017. The filing deadline for non-party candidates and candidates nominated by methods other than a primary was June 13, 2017.[2] Cheryl Turpin (D) defeated incumbent Rocky Holcomb (R) in the Virginia House of Delegates District 85 general election.[3]

The seat was vacant following Scott Taylor's (R) resignation in January 2017. He was elected to the 2nd Congressional District of Virginia in November 2016.[10]
