Incumbents Christie Craig, Colleen Leary, Harry Murphy, Louis Tayon Jr., and Michael Woods faced challengers Gayle Gilmore, Sharon Johnson-Clayton, Patricia King, Bryan Miles, Luis Padilla, and Bradley Whitlow.

Chesapeake Public Schools is located in Virginia. The district was the seventh-largest school district in the state in the 2014–2015 school year and served 39,707 students.[1]
