Campaign themes

2016

Billi's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[1]

  • Gun Rights: I oppose any restriction on the individual's right to keep and bear arms.
  • Minimum Wage: The only way low-skilled labor can compete in the workforce is to offer their services for a lower price. Minimum wage takes that away. It prevents poor and unskilled people from getting and/or holding on to jobs. I oppose the minimum wage for the sake of the working poor.
  • Education: We must have a system of education that allows for public and private schools to compete on a level playing field. This gives parents more options while holding Montana's educators and schools accountable.
  • Health Insurance: The best way to lower health insurance costs is to force insurance companies to compete for customers. The health insurance market must be a free market. I will push for an interstate compact.
  • Taxes: Taxes should only be levied to fund those services provided by government that cannot be provided in the private sector. Taxes should NOT be used to redistribute wealth; that's called theft.[2]
