Post-legislative career
In 2009, while still chair of the state Senate Economic Development Committee, Pearson helped to found the Pendleton Consulting Group.[3] The firm's site notes that its aims are "designing economic development incentives, expanding into global markets, [and] assembling key stakeholders for greater impact."[4] In 2010, Pearson sponsored a bill that "would let developers build reservoirs with state approval without having to set up a partnership with local governments or water authorities." The Atlanta Journal-Constitution noted that the bill would also benefit "Republic Resources of Atlanta," a client of Pendleton.[5] In May 2010, Pearson announced he would not seek re-election.[6]
After leaving the state Senate in 2010, Pearson became more involved in the Pendleton Consulting Group.[7] Pearson's main area of expertise is in land management and real estate. He also works with Cold River Land Management, a provider of "development, engineering, construction and management services" for large homebuilders in Georgia.[8] In 2013, Campaigns and Elections named Pearson one of the top influencers in the state of Georgia, noting his "deep connections in Atlanta and in the business community."[9]
