Career

Chris Carr graduated from McNeese State University in Louisiana before working as the Nevada campaign manager during former Republican President George H.W. Bush's 1992 presidential campaign. Carr worked as an intern at the White House and, later, transitioned to the role of deputy campaign manager during former Republican Governor of Nevada Jim Gibbons' unsuccessful 1994 gubernatorial bid. He returned to Louisiana and ran a series of political campaigns including former Republican State Representative Quentin Dastugue's 1995 bid for governor of Louisiana, Donna Mayeux's 2000 race for mayor of Baton Rouge and Dan Kyle's 2003 primary campaign for Louisiana insurance commissioner.[1]

During the 2002 and 2004 elections, Chris Carr served as the victory director and the executive director of the Republican Party of Nevada. He went on to work as the campaign manager for former Nevada Republican U.S. Senator John Ensign in 2006. In 2010, Carr transitioned to the role of western regional political director for the National Republican Congressional Committee (NRCC). He was the western regional political director for the Republican National Committee during the 2012 election cycle. Carr also worked as the Nevada campaign manager for former Republican Governor of Massachusetts Mitt Romney's 2012 presidential race.[2][3][4]

Carr founded and consulted for the conservative 501(c)(4) education and advocacy group "Engage Nevada." The group, which aims to educate Nevada voters and increase voter registration, was active during the 2012 and 2014 elections. "Engage Nevada" helped register nearly 30,000 new Nevada voters during the 2014 election cycle.[5][2][6][7]

In 2014, Carr also worked as a general consultant for Louisiana Republican Congressman Garret Graves’ successful run for office. Carr was named political director of the Republican National Committee for the 2016 election cycle in February 2015.[2]

In 2013, Campaigns & Elections magazine named Carr to the Influencers 500—a list of key Democratic and Republican political influencers in each state—for his work in Republican Nevada politics.[3]
