Campaign website

Champion's campaign website stated the following:

CHAMPION For Businesses Owners

HELP FOR THE SMALL BUSINESS OWNER

Free enterprise is the foundation of our country. We must maintain a vibrant business environment so all businesses can thrive no matter their size. Politicians who make empty promises break the hopes and dreams of many business owners and workers. Minority businesses, mostly Black and Latino businesses, haven't gotten a fair share of contracts in the services, transportation, and construction industries. This hurts Latino and Black communities in the end.

I want to create programs, services, and initiatives that focus on helping small businesses grow today while preparing them to meet tomorrow's industry needs.

On DAY ONE, I will help create a network of Business Centers, Specialty Centers, and Grantees in our area. My programs will offer customized business development and industry-focused services to provide greater access to capital, contracts, and markets.

I want to also focus on the fast-expanding minority women entrepreneur population as a revenue generators for families, communities, and the nation.

Minority women are the fastest growing population of entrepreneurs. While many women are making tremendous strides in the business world, they still face obstacles as entrepreneurs. I want to be an advocate for women’s economic empowerment by supporting efforts to advance women’s equality and promote women economic advancement programming. My vision is to ensure women worldwide reach their economic potential.

CHAMPION on Healthcare and Education

Healthcare

Our healthcare costs are out of control and are destroying the middle class. Although Obama Care is the law of the land, there is still much work to be done at the federal level. We need to increase transparency and competition and provide more consumer choice and more innovative value-based, rather than volume-based, health care delivery models.

Education

As a father, I understand that knowledge is the ultimate equalizer. Quality education for our children has always been a top priority. Our post-secondary education has a lot of work to do. Above all, we need to align the cost of education with the earning potential of a career in that field and provide more workforce development opportunities. We must prepare our students for the future workforce demands.[2]
