I’ve served Mountain View for over 15 years, including 8 years on the city council and 7 years on city commissions. I also had the honor of serving as Mountain View’s Mayor and Vice Mayor.

During my time on the Council, I earned a reputation as a pragmatic consensus builder who worked closely with my colleagues to get things done. We balanced our budgets and permitted thousands of new housing units, including affordable housing for our teachers and first responders. We also opened new community and teen centers, built nearly a dozen new parks, raised our minimum wage, supported our renters and working families, and prepared for climate change.

I’m proud of our accomplishments, but there’s still much work to do. With two longtime Mountain View council members terming out of office this year and three more in 2026, we need experienced leaders who will serve as a bridge to new leadership. I will maintain our reputation as a well-run city that values its residents, neighborhoods, small businesses, and most importantly, no-nonsense politics.

In addition to experience, what sets me apart is my breadth of support. I’m endorsed by a wide range of federal, state, and local leaders including many former Mountain View mayors and residents who span the political spectrum. They support me because they know I work hard, value sound policymaking over politics, and will always put our city first.

I humbly request your vote to continue my service to Mountain View and its residents.
  • Housing Affordability - I've led efforts to produce thousands of new housing units and more than double our supply of affordable housing over the last 10 years. I believe the best way to address our housing crisis is through supply, including market rate and subsidized units of all types (rental and ownership). I also believe in creating incentives to preserve naturally affordable housing.
  • Infrastructure/Public Safety - I have a strong track record of working with our employers, regional transit agencies, small businesses, and other keys stakeholders to expedite infrastructure and public safety projects, including expanding our safe routes to schools.
  • Economic Vitality/Shared Prosperity - I served on Council during deep recessions, a pandemic, and periods of sustained growth. We made tough decisions and worked together to balance our budgets in good times and bad. I have a proven track record of bringing all stakeholders to the table to grow sustainably and equitably.
Housing, Infrastructure, Public Safety, Environmental Sustainability, and Economic Vitality
At the local level, I believe integrity, leadership, team work, and pragmatism are critical to for effective policymaking.
While I was Mayor, I developed a deep appreciation for previous generations of city leaders who made difficult decisions in the face of opposition that paid off in the long run. They acquired land for parks, authorized large infrastructure projects, and balanced budgets so Mountain View could maintain a AAA credit rating.

Many of those decisions helped make Mountain View the successful and well run city it is today, and I want to follow in their footsteps by paying it forward and leaving our city better off for future generations.

I also want to mentor a new generations of leaders who can take the reigns when I leave elected office.
Electing leaders with experience is especially important right now in Mountain View. Five of our seven long-serving council members will term out of office over the next 2 years, so it is critical that we elect at least a few experienced leaders who can help maintain a. healthy level of continuity as we transition to a new cohort of council members.
In addition to experience, what sets me apart is my breadth of support. I’m endorsed by a wide range of federal, state, and local leaders including many former Mountain View mayors and residents who span the political spectrum. They support me because they know I work hard, value sound policymaking over politics, and will always put our city first.
Congresswoman Anna Eshoo, our state lawmakers (Marc Berman, Josh Becker, Evan Low), County Supervisor Joe Simitian, both outgoing Mountain View council members, and many former Mountain View mayors.

I'm also supported by our firefighters, police officers, local newspaper, educators, and several current/former school trustees.
