Chris Coleman (b. September 1, 1961) was the mayor of St. Paul, Minnesota . He was first elected in 2005 and was re-elected in 2009 and 2013. Before becoming mayor, Coleman was a member of the St. Paul City Council from 1997-2003, representing Ward 2.[1] Coleman did not file for re-election to the mayor's office in 2017.

On December 13, 2016, Coleman declared that he would run for governor of Minnesota in 2018.[2] He suspended his campaign on February 12, 2018, stating on his Facebook campaign page, "For the past 15 months, I've had the incredible opportunity to travel to every area of Minnesota and meet with people from all different walks of life. I am grateful for the support and encouragement I have received. So, it is with a heavy heart that I announce today the suspension of my campaign for Governor of Minnesota."[3]

Coleman was born in St. Paul. He obtained a B.A. and a J.D. from the University of Minnesota. His professional experience includes working as a Public Defender and Prosecutor.[1]
