I want to lower your taxes so you can produce economic growth. I want the government to stay out or your business because you are capable of managing your own affairs. I am for free enterprise. I want to eliminate the burdens of occupational licenses. I want to protect your gun rights. I want to hear from you about what you are concerned about. I want to be an aggressive voice for you in the legislature. I want to defend your constitutional rights and defend the constitution. I am for separate but equal branches of government. I am a Christian and I believe in the power of faith in God. I am for legal immigration. I want your vote.
I am running for the Arkansas State House District 55 to protect your rights. I'm a 5th generation Arkansan. I grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and moved to Little Rock for High School where I graduated in 1989. I attended the University of Arkansas where my Grandmother graduated in 1942 with a Chemistry Degree. My father and mother graduated from University of Arkansas and so did I. My oldest daughter is currently enrolled at the University of Arkansas and my son is a senior at Conway High School. I have been married for 23 years and I have 3 kids. I am an attorney and professional engineer. I actively practice law and engineering in Conway, Arkansas. I think my background and experience will serve the people of Arkansas well.
I am vaccinated, but I am against the Government telling you have to be vaccinated and masked - Restraints againsts the government need to be enforced. No mask mandates! No vaccine mandates! The words "shall not be infringed" mean exactly that. The government shall not infringe.
- We pay enough! In 2022, the State of Arkansas has a $970 million tax surplus and the governor is talking about how he cut $1B in taxes and that we now have a savings account for the government. That dog don't hunt. We pay too much in taxes!!!
- The government propensity to grow is unlimited. Government over-reach must be checked by citizens willing to stand up and take action. We need politicians that will act, not just talk. As a laywer I am active in protecting the civil rights of Arkansas Citizens. Just google "chris corbitt and gun lawsuits".
We pay enough. Taxes are too high. For example, a used car tax passed in 1980 by President Clinton when he was Governor of Arkansas is still in place. After 12 years of a Republican legislature and every constitutional office in the State of Arkansas is held by a Republican and we still can't get rid of it. Even with a $970 Million dollar surplus, we can't get rid of this tax. Governor Clinton was beat in 1980 by Governor Frank White over this issue and we still can't ride of the tax. That is just one example of why I am running for AR State Legislature. The next area is crime. Crime is out of control and nothing is being done about it. There are shootings literally everyday in Little Rock. That crime is spilling out of the capital city here in Conway, AR. We need better salaries for police officers. Two officers per squad car would help. Optional retirement at 20 years like the military. We must act and the politicians do nothing to make a change. Action must be taken. State intervention would be a start. Shut the crime down, lower taxes, enforce the laws on the books, hire more prosecutors.
The role models in my life inspire me to become a person I can look up to. Therefor, within myself is created a man that is always striving to be better. When I was an orderly in a hospital moving older patients around for physical therapy, I would ask them about life. I was 21 years old. I would ask them some questions, like, "What would you tell your 21 year old self?" Most of the patients were vets of WWII. The answers were the following: (1) I would have more kids, (2) I would forgive more quickly, (3) I would not worry as much. But the most memorable answer I got was from this crusty old Navy vet that would give the Doctor hell about his treatment. I asked him was there anything he regretted about his life. He said this "Son, I don't regret sh*t, the only thing I regret the sh*t, I did NOT do!" So, I use that statement in my life. And, I try. There ain't much I haven't tried and I will not be sitting in a hospital bed saying to myself "I wish I had tried that", but I am doing it right now. I am running for office because I see something that needs to changed and I have the ability to change it. For example, we should act for the Ukrainian people. If you are sitting as a passenger in a car and the driver says "you see those innocent kids in the roadway up there, I am going to run them over". Are you going to grab the steering wheel or are you just going to sit there and "do nothing". I will act. I will do something and if it is the wrong action, I will take responsibility and make another decision to right the situation.
hmmm... the latest film I saw that moved me in this area was "Created Equal: Clarence Thomas in his own words". You can watch this story of an American success story at https://www.pbs.org/show/created-equal-clarence-thomas-his-own-words/
I loved this film.
If it gives the government more power and it takes power away from the people, then that is suspect.
I as educated once - it took me years to get over it. Politicians like diapers must be changed often, and for the same reason.
He did well for the people. He did a lot of good things.
Probably the biggest event that I can remember was sitting in my high school physics class and watch the tragedy unfold with the US space shuttle Challenger explode during launch with the teacher on it. It was January of 1986. And, then the famed US physicists Richard Feynman putting the O-ring in a glass of ice water and showing that the deformed rubber under a cold temperature does not spring back showing the failure the O-ring was the cause. I was 15 years old.
I have had several part time jobs as I put my self through college. My first full time job was a trash truck driver. I still have my commercial drivers license. I grew up in Pine Bluff, Arkansas and moved to Little Rock for High School where I graduated in 1989. ohhh... I am an avid reader. I just read "License to Lie". I love fly fishing Alaska. They convicted Senator Ted Steven on bogus charges, then he lost his re-election. Then the conviction was overturned and one of the attorney's killed himself.
This true legal thriller debunks everything the media and the government told us about the Department of Justice’s destruction and prosecution of the venerable accounting firm Arthur Andersen, Merrill Lynch executives who did one business transaction with Enron, Alaska Senator Ted Steven’s, and more. The common thread through it all is a cabal of narcissistic federal prosecutors who broke all the rules and rose to great power. Still in the news today―Robert Mueller s “pitbull" Andrew Weissmann and other members of Obama's inner circle―are wreaking havoc on our Republic. This is the book that began exposing “the Deep State.”
I love a lot of music. Here is the latest... "Doing it Right" by Daft Punk. Go listen to that right now!!! Daft Punk - Doin' it Right (Official Audio) ft. Panda Bear
Life is a struggle everyday. I have been a landlord for over 25 years, yet I am really a tenant. I rent success every day. I must pay rent to be a success every day.
equal branches of government as the founders of this country said
taxes are too high, crime is out of control
hmmmm... weird question, here. Nebraska is the only state in the country that does not have a bicameral legislature. They have only one house. The bicameral legislature was setup to be responsive to the people. The house moves with the whims of the people and they are elected every two years as is the US congress. The senate is supposed to be less responsive to the whims / more stable representation of the people and be more reserved.
As for unicameral state legislature, I would need more information on this. But, why remake the wheel if it is not broken?
nope. But, at least they can find the bathroom and maybe a coke machine.
What kind of relationship? Yes, knowing people and having a relationship is good but legislatures need to make their decisions using two other principals. I call it the 3 c's. Legislators should use their conscious, colleagues and constituents to make a decision.
I am an engineer and the redistricting process should be data driven and formed by the elected representative with review by the judicial branch, like a lawsuit if they screw it up.
Tax and Revenue and the judiciary committee
We pay enough! We are taxed too much. We are surrounded by states with no income tax.
hmmmm... don't know enough of them on the local level, but nationally, I like Ronald Reagan.
Some of that would be attorney/client privileged. But while running for office, I have had the great opportunity to represents several of my clients in court to beat back government over reach and I enjoy doing just that. Filing suit against the government for violating the restraints put on the government through the 1st, 2nd and 4th amendment.
ohhh... I love lawyer jokes, but not all my colleagues would agree. What is the difference between a lawyer and a catfish?
one is a bottom dwelling scum sucker and the other is a fish.
Humor is the best healer and you have to be able to make fun of yourself and not take stuff so serious. That leads to violence and mean behavior.
