Campaign themes

2016

DeRose's campaign website highlighted the following issues:[6]

Education: Chris is an award-winning educator, a five-year school board member, and the son of a public school teacher. He understands the importance of quality education in our community. Chris will work with the Phoenix Department of Education to develop cutting edge curriculum and support so that every child in Phoenix has access to quality education and is equipped for the jobs of tomorrow.

Public Safety: As a major felony prosecutor, Chris DeRose has prosecuted some of the worst criminals in Arizona - including murderers, street gangs, and people who commit crimes against children. Chris plans to add 500 police officers to the streets over the next 3 years with an eventual goal of 1,000 and develop a comprehensive plan to fight crime in our community. Taxes: Chris will stand up for taxpayers and against more taxing and runaway spending. Phoenix has raised billions of dollars in sales taxes, food taxes, and water taxes, and recklessly wasted your money. Now, City Hall has increased your property taxes 26%. Chris DeRose will stand up for you and pledges to fight any further tax increases.

Job Creation: Chris is dedicated to making Phoenix the best city in the country to start a business and create jobs.[7]
