Chris Hardwick
Chris Hardwick (Republican Party) was a member of the Horry County Schools school board in South Carolina, representing District 9. Hardwick assumed office in 2016. Hardwick left office on January 11, 2021.

Six of the 12 seats on the Horry County Schools Board of Education were up for general election on November 8, 2016. Five of the seats were elected by district and the seat of the board chairman was elected at large.
There was a Republican primary election on June 14, 2016, for the District 4, 8, 9, and 11 seats. Three newcomers filed for the open District 4 seat: David Cox, Robert Palmer, and Scott Thompson. Cox and Thompson advanced to a primary runoff on June 28, 2016, since neither received more than 50 percent of the vote. Cox won the runoff and was unopposed in the general election, winning the spot on the board. In District 8, incumbent John Poston faced newcomer Patricia Milley. Poston emerged victorious and was also unopposed in the general election, allowing him to secure another term. District 9 saw Chris Hardwick and James Edwards file for the open seat, with Hardwick gaining victory. He faced Democratic candidate Ronald Bessant in the general election, and Hardwick won the election. The District 11 seat attracted incumbent Jeffrey Garland and newcomer Shanda Allen. Allen won the primary and was unopposed in the general, gaining victory.
Only two spots on the board up for election did not see primary elections: the at-large and District 5 seats. For the at-large seat, incumbent Joe Defeo filed as a Republican for re-election in the general and was unopposed in his bid, winning an additional term. District 5 saw incumbent Janice Morreale file unopposed as a Republican and secure another term on the board.[1][2]

Funding
Hardwick reported no contributions or expenditures to the South Carolina State Ethics Commission as of October 28, 2016.[3]
The following are the guidelines provided by the South Carolina State Ethics Commission for campaign finance reporting:[4]
Initial report: School board candidates were required to file this report within 10 days of spending or receiving the first $500 of campaign funds. A subsequent report was not required until additional funds were raised.
Pre-election report: This report had to be filed by all candidates, whether or not there was any financial campaign activity. The report had to be filed no later than 15 days, and no earlier than 20 days, prior to the general election. The pre-election report was due on October 24, 2016.
Quarterly report: All candidates with contributions on hand were required to file this report. It was required of all candidates once they had begun to file, whether or not there was financial activity. The fourth quarter campaign finance report was due on October 10, 2016.
Final report: This was due after the campaign account was closed.
