Incumbent French Hill (R) defeated Dianne Curry (D), Chris Hayes (L), and write-in candidates Mathew Wescott and Charles Neely in the general election on November 8, 2016. Hayes was defeated by incumbent Tim Griffin.[5] Hayes ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House to represent Arkansas's 2nd District. He faced Herb Rule (D), incumbent Tim Griffin (R) and Barbara Ward (G) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[6]
