Chris McKenzie was the executive director of the League of California Cities and was a spokesperson against California Proposition 98 (2008) and for California Proposition 99 (2008).
McKenzie was also on the board of California Statewide Communities Development Authority (CSCDA). In 2007, CSCDA issued about $4.2 billion in tax-free bonds, making it the fifth-largest debt issuer in the country.
Thoughts on initiative process
In December 2009, McKenzie wrote on why his organization gets involved in ballot propositions: "We wish we didn't have to (spend so much), but if you don't, you become a victim, and your objective and goals become victim of the legislative process."[1]
