Chris Morrill
Chris Morrill was the 2016 Libertarian candidate for Missouri Secretary of State.[1] He was defeated in the general election on November 8, 2016.
Biography
Born in Cape Girardeau, Morrill graduated from Scott City High School in 1990. He earned a bachelor of science in education from Southeast Missouri State University in 1994. An active member of the Republican Party during college, Morrill began serving as a Libertarian committeeman in 2000.
Merrill has worked as an insurance and financial services professional for nearly two decades, with a special focus on fraud investigations. He has also worked as a teacher and writer.[2]

Morrill ran for Missouri Secretary of State in the 2016 elections as a Libertarian. He was the only Libertarian candidate to file, leaving him unopposed in the August 2 Libertarian primary. He competed with retired news anchor Robin Smith (D) and private practice attorney Jay Ashcroft, who won their parties' nominations on August 2, in the November general election.[1]

Campaign themes
2016
Morrill's campaign website included the following priorities:[3]
- Merging the secretary of state's office with the Missouri Department of Financial Institutions and Professional Registration to eliminate redundancies in purview
- Opposing voter identification legislation
- Returning to paper ballots to facilitate fair and secure elections and recounts
- Aggressively pursuing complaints of voter fraud
- Modernizing that state's record-keeping technology
- Improving access to candidate registration
