Submitted Biography "After earning my Bachelor's of Science degree in Civil Engineering at Arizona State University I commissioned in the United States Marine Corps and was active duty for 11 years, deploying to Afghanistan, Romania, and Kuwait/Iraq. In 2017 I got off active duty and joined the USMCR to continue serving my country as a Reserve Officer. I went back to college to obtain my real estate license to educate veterans about their home buying benefits and help families in Southern California realize their dream of owning a home. I also started working for SkyWest Airlines as a First Officer. I continue working these three jobs while also spending time growing my non-profit, The Co-Pilot Foundation, which I established to provide mentor-ship and support to children who have lost a parent in the line of duty. We need to build the wall and secure our borders, providing more funds and resources for legal immigration. We need to loosen our California restrictions on gun ownership and remove suppressors from the class 3 list. We need a real, long-term solution to our homeless population in California. We need to federally legalize marijuana, families should not be forced to move to another state just to provide medical marijuana to their sick children.
I have always looked up to my grandfather, CDR Clarence 'Bill' Stoddard. He was a Naval Academy graduate and the Commanding Officer of VA-25. He was shot down in the Vietnam War and his aircraft went into the Gulf of Tonkin. He remains have never been found. He was a great father, officer, pilot, and American and I have always admired his legacy.
Honesty is number one. If you can't be trusted then you should not be in office. Teamwork is another. You have to be able to work with your peers across the aisle to come up with real solutions to our nation's problems. Transparency is also necessary to be open and upfront with residents in your district that you are representing.
I have always been a hard worker, both in the Marine Corps and my civilian career. I am a very driven person and when I put my mind to something I do not give up. I am straightforward and honest and will speak what's on my mind. I am a good listener and work well with others, taking their thoughts into consideration even if they have different views than myself.
My first job was mowing neighbors lawns when I was growing up in South Florida. It taught me a lot about hard work and the value of a dollar.
The large size of the U.S. House of Representatives is what makes it unique. You have over 400 people representing all walks of life from all sorts of different backgrounds. The diversity in the House provides multiple perspectives for issues facing our states and country.
Congresswoman Susan Davis is vacating the seat that I am running for. She has done great things for veterans during her time in office as the senior member of the House Armed Services Committee. I would love to be on the committee and continue her legacy of helping our nation's finest.
Two years is the right term length for representatives. It allows the voters an opportunity to change who they want representing them if the current congressperson is not getting the job done. It gives people the control they deserve when it comes to elected officials fighting for their concerns.
