Campaign themes

2014

Stump's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[1]

Sustainability

  • Excerpt: "To ensure this enviable land remains fruitful for our children, their children and so on, we must preserve the aina. Sustainability will be key to maintaining the land which in recent years has seen a steady increase in population and industrialization. Appropriate use and conservation of resources is a positive transition Chris hopes can alleviate pressure currently being put on our prized ecosystem."

Labor

  • Excerpt: "After our children graduate we need to make sure that we make the best opportunities available to them. Currently many Hawai’i workers earning minimum wage are living paycheck to paycheck. Families struggle to meet the everyday necessities of life in the state with the highest cost of living."

Education

  • Excerpt: "Chris knows there is great room for improvement in regards to over-sized classes and expectations for the students. Chris sees a future where children of Hawai’i, including his own, can enter a classroom and get the personalized attention they need to progress and grow."

Development

  • Excerpt: "In addition to keeping our pristine land productive, Chris knows it is essential for Hawai’i residents to openly communicate with their local government."
