Campaign themes
2015
Swann's website highlighted the following campaign themes:[2]
Revitalization of downtown Madison
- Excerpt: "Parts of what we know as "downtown Madison" have fallen into disrepair. Several buildings vacant or occupied by several "quick cash" title and short-term loan businesses. I want to take the opportunity, with help from the community and Metro, to help provide financial education to those who find themselves in need of these establishments and help them break the cycle of using high-interest, short-term loans and decrease or eliminate the need for them in Madison."
Property taxes
- Excerpt: "I will vote AGAINST all property tax increases. Your hard earned money is taxed enough already."
Investment in the district
- Excerpt: "District 8 property values are on the rise and now is a great time to take advantage of the affordability of some beautiful properties. The renovations and construction in some of the neighborhoods in the Inglewood area of the district have begun already and we plan on that continuing to move north! There are also attractive properties ready for businesses to take advantage of their convenient location and value."
Safety
- Excerpt: "I support full funding of both Metro Police and Firefighters. The safety of Nashvillians and our guest is a priority and should be funded as such. This is not an area to cut corners."
