Three seats on the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District Board of Trustees were up for general election on November 4, 2014. The Trustee Area 4 race featured two candidates, Robert Lucky and Chris L. Wilson. Wilson defeated Lucky to win the election. In Trustee Area 5, candidate Jonathan Richardson ran unopposed and won the election by default. The Trustee Area 7 seat also lacked opposition as David C. Isom, the only incumbent running for re-election, also ran unopposed and won by default.

The 2014 general election was the first time the Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District elected board members from geographic areas. Prior to this election, the board of trustees was elected at large.[2] This also was the first election held during an even-numbered year. Before switching to elections by trustee area, Fairfield-Suisun Unified School District elections were held during odd-numbered years.[3]

Wilson highlighted the following issues on his campaign website:

I currently work for Napa County’s Department of Children’s Welfare and I am also a certified Mediator. My mediation training provides me with an advantage in untangling complicated issues and disputes. Through my years in Family Law and now in Children's Welfare, I see firsthand the challenges facing our community. I want the same things all parents want: a quality education for my child. I want this for my child and yours. As Trustee for Area 4, I will work to bring change where it is needed and support to strengthen what already works.

Area 4 is a densely populated section of Fairfield and home to six FSUSD campuses: Sheldon Elementary, Sem Yeto High, Fairview Elementary, Fairfield-Suisun Adult School, Anna Kyle Elementary and Armijo High School. Of the nearly 22,000 students in our district, these schools (excluding the Adult School) represent over 4600 students. That is approximately 21% of the student population for the entire district. The challenges facing Area 4 are as complex and diverse as its population. Area 4 deserves a Trustee that knows the area, its residents and understands what must be done to prepare our students for higher education and the workforce.

We need our our tax dollars in the classroom, benefiting our students. We need common sense and practical solutions. And we need to take steps to to achieve the best possible solutions for our students, parents, teachers, and community as a whole. With your support, we can build a partnership to take our district forward in the right direction.[4]
