I am a longtime resident of the Lincoln Square Community, where I live with my wife, Katie, and our three young children. I have a bachelor’s degree in economics from the United States Air Force Academy, where I played NCAA Division I water polo – a sport I fell in love with in high school. I subsequently earned a master’s degree in exercise science at Northeastern Illinois University before attending The John Marshall Law School (currently UIC Law). In law school, I was active in the Environmental Law Society and served as managing editor of The John Marshall Law Review.

Prior to and during law school, I coached swimming at Von Steuben Metropolitan Science Center and Water Polo at Northside College Prep high school, as a CPS employee.

I work part-time as an adjunct professor at Wilbur Wright College, teaching Civil Litigation to paralegal students. In my spare time I enjoy gardening, biking with my kids, swimming in the lake, playing piano, and practicing yoga.

As an attorney, I have represented numerous homeowners and small business owners. Working with these clients has given me deep insight of many of the issues affecting small businesses and homeowners. I am committed to using my legal skills to help others through pro bono service. I provided pro bono mortgage foreclosure defense through Chicago Volunteer Legal Services. I also worked with the Chicago Bar Association Wills for Heroes program, which helps first responders plan for their families’ futures.
  • Safety: Many communities in Chicago have been plagued with crime and violence. The 40th Ward has been no exception. While no City Council member can tackle this challenge alone, our ward needs someone with experience and who approaches problems with an open mind and from a place of compassion for the community, for the victims and for those who feel that crime is the only option. Our community must collaborate with members of the Chicago Police Department to address community concerns, and work with those who too often feel un-heard. Mental health services are an important component of public safety, not only for the victims of violence, but also for our neighbors who are suffering in silence.
  • Transportation: From improving public transit to creating protected bike lanes and reducing overall traffic congestion, we can make our ward and this city greener and more accessible to the masses. Our transportation system is broken. Side street cut-throughs present safety concerns and should be minimized, while speed bumps do not adequately solve the problem Relying on car-centric transportation will only lead to more congestion and frustration. We need to plan and build infrastructure that will sustain us well into the 22nd century.
  • Affordability: Many long-time residents are being priced out of neighborhoods where we have built our lives and raised our families. People shouldn’t be forced to leave their communities to afford home ownership or rent an apartment. The middle class is getting squeezed out of the 40th Ward.
Public Safety, Progressive Infrastructure, & Affordability
