I am a native of North Iowa and grew up on a family farm near Lake Mills in Winnebago County. I lived in the Minneapolis, MN area for a number of years, where I contributed my skills in both civilian life and national service, before returning home to Mason City in 2020. I have had a remarkable military career and currently serve as a Reserve Senior Leader with the US European Command in Stuttgart, Germany. With multiple global deployments under my belt, I am looking forward to retiring this spring at the rank of Chief Master Sergeant, marking 29 years of total service. In my civilian career, I work in property management and have previously served as a police officer, where I faced frontline challenges in the mental health, drug, and crime crises that grip our nation. I have been married to Angela for 17 years and cherish our family life with a blended family that includes two adult sons and three granddaughters.
  • With decades of experience serving the nation and protecting local communities I draw from an extensive set of experiences to address complex issues.
  • My commitment to God, family, hard work, and Iowa values has prepared me to serve as the Representative for the citizens of House District 59.
  • The citizens deserve a representative who will effectively carry their voices to the Capitol in Des Moines, and I am ready for that challenge!
Public Safety

• Increase funding for drug task force manning and local law enforcement officer training
• Restrict the use of plea deals for violent offenders and hardcore drug dealers
• Expand mental health, drug rehab, and homeless programs

Economy
• Cut unnecessary, burdensome, and dated regulations on businesses
• Increase training for skilled trades and tech jobs
• Invest in local public infrastructure

Taxes
• Eliminate income taxes
• Lower tax and administrative fee burdens on small businesses

• Reduce taxes on clothing, home health, and personal hygiene products

Scorecards

See also: State legislative scorecards and State legislative scorecards in Iowa

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
