Biography
Honl graduated from Astoria High School and earned his B.S. in electrical engineering in 1996 from the University of Washington. He is an engineering manager for the Intel Corporation.[1]

Opposition
Three of the seven seats on the Hillsboro School District Board of Directors were up for general election on May 19, 2015.
Position 4 incumbent Kim Strelchun, Position 5 incumbent Adriana Cañas and Position 7 incumbent Wayne Clift were up for election. Cañas did not file for re-election; Lisa Allen, Christopher Barry and Bart Rask ran for the open Position 5 seat. Allen was successful in that race. Strelchun defeated challengers Christian Honl and Tim Reeves, and Clift defeated Jaime Rodriguez.

Funding
Honl reported $6,454.00 in contributions and $6,328.80 in expenditures to the Oregon Secretary of State, which left his campaign with $125.20 in cash on hand in this election. However, Honl also had outstanding loans and personal expenditures totaling $4,292.43. This left his campaign effectively $4,167.23 in debt.[2]

| “ | As a manager for Intel Corporation over the last 15 years, I’ve learned the most significant thing you can do as a leader is to provide direction and guidance and fulfill the needs of those who rely on you. I will employ these same skills to providing a pathway for success in our schools, supporting our teachers, and first and foremost, making educating our kids our first priority.
Creativity and innovation. We need to improve and update the technology in our schools. I will work with teachers and experts in the community on how we can use creative and innovative technological methods of teaching in the classroom. The next generation. The success of Oregon’s future depends on the quality of education we provide to our kids now. By working with local colleges and businesses, we can set students up for their future in higher education and the workforce. Listen and learn. With 15 years of management experience, I know how to build consensus, and I will work with board members, parents, students, staff and our legislators to problem-solve and support the district to the best of our ability. Collaborative solutions. We must collaborate to find long-term solutions, not quick-fixes, to funding the needs in our district while protecting our quality of education.
