Representative Christian Solorio Acuña is the son of immigrant parents and has been a resident of the District for over 20 years. Growing up and experiencing housing instability moving between homes inspired Christian to become focus on building affordable housing for families. Today, he is a licensed architect and a proud product of public schools. Representative Christian Solorio Acuña was appointed to the state legislature in 2021. Since the appointment, Christian has been a champion of housing affordability, public education, clean environment, labor protections, and quality healthcare. Christian has introduced legislation for rent stabilization, expanding the Arizona Housing Trust Fund, same day voter registration, electric school buses and additional measures. Christian combines his professional expertise and lived experience in the district to listen to residents’ needs and work towards real solutions. As an architect, Christian has partnered with several nonprofits such as Foundation for Senior Living, Catholic Charities, and Central Arizona Shelter Services to design and build over $270 million in housing developments in the state of Arizona. Christian serves on the Alhambra Elementary School Board, the Alhambra Village Planning Committee, and Board Member of Trellis Community Development. His continued involvement connects him with people of all walks of life for responsive servant leadership.
  • As an architect, I have dedicated my career to housing affordability. For an Arizona with housing stability, we need to refocus housing policy to protect current occupants and build new affordable housing. In addition, the population of people experiencing homelessness has skyrocketed, and it’s highly present in our district. Homelessness is a complex issue that is a cross-section and result of unaffordable housing; behavioral and mental health; substance use and abuse; cycles of poverty; cycles of criminalization; lack of access to critical services. I’m utilizing every policy, fiscal and community tool available to help keep folks in their homes and reduce homelessness.
  • I’m a product of good public schools. Sadly, the programs that encouraged me to become an architect as a child are no longer active today. They were terminated along with many programs that support academic growth and services to students and families due to budget cuts in state funding. At the same time, Arizona offers the lowest teacher pay in the nation. I believe it’s time to invest in teachers and support staff with increased pay and prioritize funding for public education.
  • As a cancer survivor, I have first hand experience seeing just how broken our healthcare system is. Medical emergencies, through no fault of the person, have the power to put folks in a lifetime of debt. Living in the richest country in the world, this is unacceptable. Every person should have access to quality healthcare because it is an essential right.
Having been a resident of my district for over 20 years, there are many areas of impact I'm passionate about--it includes housing, public education, clean environment, labor protections, and quality healthcare.

Scorecards

A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.

Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
