With a deep-rooted passion for education, childcare, housing, and economic development, Reynolds brings a wealth of experience and commitment to the forefront of her campaign. Currently serving as a high school educator specializing in history and government, Reynolds intimately understands the challenges facing both students and families in the district. "I am honored to announce my candidacy for Michigan's 108th District," said Reynolds. "I believe that every individual deserves access to quality education, affordable childcare, safe housing, and opportunities for economic growth. My platform is founded on these principles, and I am dedicated to working tirelessly to address the pressing needs of our community."
  • Education: Ensuring equitable access to quality education for all students, supporting teachers, and investing in educational resources. Addressing the unique needs for rural schools.
  • Childcare and Housing: Advocating for affordable and accessible childcare options to support working families. Addressing housing affordability and homelessness through innovative solutions and community partnerships.
  • Economic Development: Promoting sustainable economic growth, job creation, and supporting local businesses to strengthen the district's economy.
As a mother and a teacher I'm personally passionate about policies that support and sustain healthy communities. Policies that address education, childcare, housing, and economic development have far reaching impacts that can lift up everyone. I have three young children and I want to create a better 108 for them. All of our children and young people deserve opportunities that currently are hard to find in the 108 and the U.P. in general. I want our children to think of the U.P. for their futures and dream of building their lives here. It is our responsibility and privilege as the older generation to build policy for that future.
I look up to my grandmother Rebecca Arenas. She was an amazing woman and community leader. Throughout her life she faced many personal and professional challenges but never gave up and always kept her faith. She served her community her entire life and helped many people get registered to vote. She also supported the Lantinx community and advocated for human rights in the Holland Michigan area. Although she never won any of the elections she ran in, she always took it in stride and it helped motivate her to serve the public even more.
My email signature for the last 5 years has been "Far and away the best prize that life offers is the chance to work hard at work worth doing." - Teddy Roosevelt. I really take this heart and believe that public service, either in politics, health care, public safety, education, or municipal work is work worth doing. Serving your community is not just a responsibility, it is a gift. It is a gift to yourself and others to serve. My favorite fictional public servant is Leslie Knope.
An elected official should have several important qualities to do their job well. First, they need to really want to help their community. This means they care about making life better for the people they represent. When officials truly care, people trust them more and feel confident that they are working for the good of everyone.

Second, they should be good listeners and open to hearing different ideas. Our communities are made up of many different people with different opinions and needs. A good official listens to all these voices, even if they don't agree with all of them. This helps them make decisions that are fair and work well for everyone.

Finally, an elected official must respect and follow the Constitution and our democratic values. The Constitution is a set of rules that protects our rights and freedoms. By sticking to these rules, officials make sure they are acting legally and fairly. This helps keep our government honest and strong, and makes sure that power is used in the right way.

In short, the most important qualities for an elected official are a real desire to help their community, the ability to listen to different ideas, and a strong commitment to following the Constitution and democratic values. These qualities help them serve the public well and make sure the government is fair and just for everyone.
My first job was scooping ice cream at the Tawas Bay Fudge Company. I believe I was a sophomore in high school when I was hired and I worked the summers during tourist season until I went off to college. It was a great first job.
I'm a huge nerd so this is a very difficult question to answer. Instead I'll outline my favorite characters across the board! Comic books (Marvel) = Storm, comic book (DC) = Black Canary, Video game (Horizon Zero Dawn) = Aloy, book (Wheel of Time Series) = Perrin, Movie (Toy Story) = Buzz Lightyear, TV Series (Parks and Rec) = Leslie Knope
I believe it is essential for legislators to build relationships with other legislators. For our government to function properly we need our elected officials to work well with others, communicate clearly, listen to their constituents, and work tirelessly to pass legislation for their districts.
