Christie Canales Norris is a judge of the Superior Court of Kern County in California. She assumed office in 2021. Her current term ends on January 6, 2031.

Norris won re-election for judge of the Superior Court of Kern County in California outright in the primary on March 5, 2024, after the primary and general election were canceled.

Norris was appointed to the court on December 23, 2021, by Gavin Newsom (D). Although California Superior Court judges are elected in nonpartisan elections, a press release from Newsom's office announcing Norris' appointment on December 23, 2021, identified her as a Democrat.[1]

Biography

Norris received her J.D. from the University of Iowa College of Law. From 2010 to 2011, she worked as an associate at Malcolm Cisneros, then as a deputy public defender at the Kern County Public Defender’s Office from 2011 to 2013. She worked as a sole practitioner from 2013 to 2020. She served as a senior attorney at the Kern County Superior Court.[1]
