I, Christine Brady, am a 25-year resident of Chula Vista running for Mayor as a "write in" candidate. For 34 years, I have worked building schools and promoting bi national community development at the San Diego/Chula Vista/Tijuana border. I graduated from Princeton and Stanford Universities with degrees in Physics and Engineering. I have been honored by the CA State Assembly as a "Woman helping Women" and received the Eleanor Roosevelt Human Rights Award from the United Nations Association and the award for Socially Responsive Building from the American Institute of Architecture. I am the founder of the More Art = Less Violence movement. I want to help the populations of adolescents and homeless in Chula Vista and promote beautiful and responsible development for all the citizens of Chula Vista. I plan to support making Chula Vista a Center of educational excellence by supporting the planned University of California Chula Vista, upgrading the CV Adult school, bringing more Arts and Sports programs to the schools and City, creating a Cultural Center for Chula Vista. I have a plan for the homeless population that includes small individual homes with all services and a mental health center that does not take up much land and can be converted to Senior Housing. I support free electric shuttles for Seniors. I am the only candidate with true community development experience. I continually resolve development problems creatively to the benefit of the community.
  • Excellent Educational Institutions and Cultural Center for Chula Vista!
  • El Pueblo Educado es el Pueblo Prospero!
  • Viable solutions to homelessness
Preventing crime and violence through programs of Art, Architecture and Athletics.

Implementing effective solutions to homelessness,
Serving our vulnerable populations
Bringing jobs to Chula Vista through the Education industry.
Bringing the society and city to the aid of underserved schools.

Positive development and housing solutions
I look up to the following people, Eunice Kennedy Shriver for creating the Special Olympics, Artist James Hubbell for his commitment to bringing art and beauty to public spaces, Jimmy Carter for his commitment to Peace, Eleanor Roosevelt for drafting the Declaration of Human Rights, I admire great teachers and artists, although I do not have their talents to be able to imitate. I admire Roger Revelle for his work founding the University of California San Diego. I admire Walt Disney for his creativity and genius bringing joy to children and adults. I admire dedicated scientists who have worked to aleviate human suffering through the creation of vaccines like Jonas Salk. As a public official I hope to make it possible for the society to provide opportunity to children and adults to develope their natural talents for the beneifit of society.
Elected officials should survey the community and be constantly informed of the needs and desires of the community. The Mayor should care about people. The mayor should be a good fund raiser with the Society, state and federal governments. The mayor should have vision as well as good judgement and common sense. The mayor should be able to coordinate with experts in different fields to have the information necessary to make good decisions and vote for the best solution. The mayor should be able to inspire Civic pride and engagement.
Vision, energetic, background in science, engineering and the arts. Sound judgement, creative thinker, people person.
Elected officials should provide leadership and vision. They should care and attend the needs of different populations of the City and promote positive solutions to social needs. The mayor should work for State and Federal funding for the City.
Ballet teacher at age 16, for two year
I moved from Pennsylvaia to San DiegoCA in 1979. In 1987 I began working in Tijuana in community development. Had to learn a new culture, language, etc. and how to deal with neighborhood conflicts preventing development. The solution was to incorporate Art in all aspects of social programs.
As Mayor I will have the voice and vote to guide Chula Vista towards positive development of housing and cultural institutions that are needed for this growing City. Chula Vista has a population of 260,000 people. It is located between San Diego, CA and Tijuana, Baja California. The Civic culture should celebrate its unique binational, bicultural origens. As mayor, I can bring an insistence on beauty and creativity to the solution of social problems that has been lacking.
The most important responsibility of the Mayor of a growing City like Chula Vista is to bring sound judgement as well as vision to development plans and attention to the needs of all the different populations of the city. The mayor should lead the way and be able to vote for constructive plans and help bring them to fruition. The mayor should seek out sources of funding from the State and Federal government for the City. The Mayor should work colegially with the City's nonprofit organizations to provide even more services to the community. The mayor should set standards that the majority of citizens can live with.
To prove vision and sound judgement to plans and proposed solutions to social problems. The mayor should also work to acquire funding from the State and Federal government for the needs of the City. The Mayor should also inspire Civic pride and participation in the community and local groups together for the betterment of the community.
I love the people of Chula Vista and their goals of making a better life for their family and community. I love the physical beauty and weather of Coastal Southern California as well!
Affordable housing, creation of needed social institutions, implementing aesthetic considerations in planned growth, promoting beauty and architecture, bringing focus to the needs of adolescents in the community where the majority of families have both parents working. Solving the issues faced by the homeless community. Creating a Cultural Center for Chula Vista.
The ideal relationship between the City and State would be of agreement towards positive growth with funding from the State to reach the goals of the City.
I believe that the City and Federal Government should work together to best serve the interest of the citizens. The City should benefit from Federal Funding for Social Institutions, etc.
The best relationship between the Mayor's office and law enforcement would be of constant open communication of the needs of the community, what is happening, etc. and joint decision making about the best way to deal with crime, security and the needs of the Police force.
