Campaign themes
2014
Burstein's Facebook page highlighted the following campaign themes:
“ | Jobs and the Economy - I've worked since I was 15 years old, I was a chicken factory worker, waitress, cook, daycare worker, teacher, deck hand, captain, stage manager, nurse, and nurse practitioner. I know what it means to struggle to make ends meet. I want everyone to have the opportunity to earn a living wage and have a fair shot at success.
Healthcare - As a Nurse Practitioner I have extensive experience in the health care system. I know we all need to be able to go to a healthcare provider without fear of breaking the bank. Investing in prevention and primary care will save millions in ER visits and long term healthcare costs. The Environment - Maine is one of the most pristine, beautiful places on earth. We must protect our natural resources. If we spoil them, then our health and our children's future is at stake, and our tourist industry is destroyed. Tax Relief - As a co-owner of a small business with my husband, I understand the need for streamlining regulations, reducing burdensome taxes, and encouraging business development here in Maine. Education - As a mother and a member of the Five Towns CSD School Board, I have first-hand knowledge in dealing with student motivation, curriculum, budgets, and personnel issues.[1][2] |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
