Hello! I have lived in Tolleson for over 20 years and married into a family with deep roots in the community which I've made my own. Lupe and I have been married 42 years, we have 3 children and 6 grandchildren. I am a Native Arizonan, born in Phoenix with roots in Flagstaff.

I have experience in local government having served the City of Phoenix for nearly 30 years. I earned certification from Arizona State University as a Certified Public Manager and have extensive knowledge of how local government works to include finances, planning, budgeting, and local community programs.

I would love the opportunity to serve the Tolleson Community.
  • I have the knowledge and experience to serve the community and am a Certified Public Manager.
  • I believe a strong community makes for an excellent place to live and work. This means offering strategies and to improve the quality of life.
  • I believe it is important to support Tolleson's current policies to preserve our culture, to improve educational opportunities, and to embrace and welcome a diverse community.
Key areas to ensure our preservation in a solid financial base, education and community services for those in need.
Tolleson is a small community of largely Hispanics who believe in education and vote. We have a unique opportunity to offer our insight into many issues in our state simply by preserving our culture, speaking the truth and being willing to learn and change.
I admire my father. Though he had a difficult childhood, he never let that get in the way. He cared for his mother and sisters and then my grandmother and great-grandmother until their deaths. He believed in education and gave us the best education he could afford. He read the paper everyday from front to back staying abreast of what was going on in the world. He served in the National Guard for 10 years and was the pillar of stability for the family. He was a loving, caring man of few words but his behavior spoke volumes of the great man he was.
Although The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho is not a political philosophy, it is a philosophy by which I strive to live.
We must speak the truth and we must be transparent and hold ourselves accountable.
I have a deep desire to serve my community and I have the knowledge and experience to get the job done.
The first responsibility is to fiscal stability, ensuring the city has the financial resources to provide services and a baseline quality of life. We must follow local and federal policies and regulations in place to ensure ongoing compliance in this area which ensures our ability to apply for federal funding that can provide improvements to the community.
I would like to be known as the voice of reason.
I remember my dad watching the news, when troops were returning home from Vietnam, we watched for hours, everyday. I would have been about 11 years old.
In 1977 I cleaned tables for a local Mexican Restaurant near my home in Maryvale and I walked to and from work.
My favorite book is The Alchemist. I've read it many times over a number of years and each time it has a slightly different meaning for me, it why I love it!
Buenos Dias Paloma Blanca, one of my grandmother's favorite songs. I make it a point to be thankful for all I have and to sing this song every morning at sunrise while I water my plants.
I am an A personality and I set high standards for myself that can be unrealistic at times but I try!
I have a basic understanding of how local government works and its responsibilities to the public it serves.
I like jokes but I'm not a good joke teller, not my strong suit, lol.
I feel strongly that our decisions must be transparent and we must be held accountable. It is important to communicate with and engage the community.
