Dietz ran in the 2012 election for Pennsylvania House District 104. Dietz ran unopposed in the Democratic primary on April 24 and was defeated by incumbent Susan Helm (R) in the general election on November 6, 2012.[1]

Dietz was endorsed by several groups and organizations, including Progressive Majority, Equality PA, Planned Parenthood, the AFL-CIO, the Sierra Club, and plumbers, pipe fitters, and electrical workers unions.[2]
