Candidate Connection

Chris McDowell enlisted in the Army when I was 17 in order to have money to attend college. Eventually he went to school on the Montgomery GI Bill. Upon graduating from college with honors, Chris received an ROTC commission and went to law school. After graduating law school near the top of his class, Chris was stationed in Korea as a prosecutor. He was later sent to Germany, where he also worked as a prosecutor of the most serious felonies. Chris was selected to be a member of the trial defense service where he defended soldiers accused of crimes in Germany, Bosnia, Italy, Croatia, and Hungary. Prior to moving to Cincinnati in 2000, he was head of the criminal defense office at Fort Riley, Kansas. Chris went to work at Dinsmore & Shohl in their litigation department, where he rose to equity partner. Chris currently works for Strauss Troy.

  • Chris will move civil cases along, decide motions, and work to resolve problems.
  • Chris will keep our streets safe from dangerous criminals.
Chris McDowell is passionate about preserving our civil liberties from dangerous government intrusion. Chris is passionate about all of our Constitutional rights, not just some. He believes in the First Amendment right to free speech, the Second Amendment right to bear arms, the Fourth Amendment right against unreasonable searches and seizures, the Fifth and Sixth Amendment right to remain silent and right to counsel in criminal cases, and the Eighth Amendment right to reasonable bail. Chris will work to preserve our hard-won freedoms.
