I grew up in Austin. I have a Bachelors degree in Government from The University of Texas and a Masters degree in International Affairs from Georgia Tech.

I’ve spent the last 20 years in the Department of Defense working national security issues, as a cybersecurity professional hunting for advanced persistent threats throughout the world, building future capabilities using computer vision and AI/ML, and as the founder of a cybersecurity startup focusing on space systems.

I’m running because I know what it’s like to live without health insurance. I know what it’s like to be the little guy when it comes to dealing with corporations. I know what it’s like to make minimum wage, to be laid off, and to live in debt. I know what it’s like to not be able to afford a home.

I’m running because I want a bolder, more progressive and proactive Democratic party - with a clear vision that fights back against right-wing extremism and for everyday Americans.

I am more than familiar with Austin, past and present. This is the community that I grew up in and wish to represent. I have a vision of what I want for this city and this region as it grows in the 21st century.
  • Women in this country should have full autonomy of their bodies and be the ultimate decision makers for their heath care needs. I will fight to ensure women get health care and abortion access. No impediments. No caveats. A woman’s fundamental rights do not change based on which side of a state border she happens to be on.
  • It is beyond time to move forward with Medicare For All and to provide health insurance for all Americans. The current system tying insurance to employment traps people. We should not have a system where anyone has to decide between buying medicine or buying food. Or worryi about whether an ambulance ride is covered. We should never have to worry about whether a provider is or isn’t in network. Nor should we worry that a broken bone or a pulled muscle will deplete all your savings.
  • Enough of corruption in Congress and the courts. Members of Congress should not be able to get rich trading stocks on insider information. Nor should they be representing foreign interests on the side. Judges should be held to account for unethical behavior like taking money from those with business before them. We have to end the system of self-policing. Congress, the judiciary, etc. need to be held to the highest standard. We must hold people to account, to impeach, and to prosecute. There can't be two systems, one for the elite where laws are for sale, and one for everyone else.
I am passionate about national security and foreign policy. Leadership on the international stage requires that we are actively engaged with a robust diplomatic corps and we live up to our obligations. The world watches what we do, both our actions and inactions, and emulate them. Protecting democracy and our economic interests aren’t “either/or” - they are “and”. Democratic norms and freedoms encourage peace, prosperity, economic development, and open markets.
Honesty and integrity. The American people are placing a great deal of trust in you. You are there on their behalf and benefit, not your own.
I would like to leave this country better than I found it. To support educational opportunities for all, not just the elite. To support the infrastructure that carries us through the 21st century and into the 22nd.
Catch-22. The passages related to Major Major’s father resonate more and more as I’ve moved through life.
It is beneficial to have previous experience in either government or politics because it lessens the learning curve for new members. But it should never be a prerequisite. Congress should be filled with representatives from all walks of life and varied experiences.
Congress should use its investigative powers for the benefit of the American people. It is not something to be used for partisan games. Using it as such lessens the trust in the institution.
House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence (HPSCI), House Armed Services Committee, and House Foreign Affairs. All three of these committees touch on my background and experience and where I believe I would be most effective for the American people.
