In 2009, Merola ran for election to the Virginia House of Delegates. He received 39 percent of the vote in the general election on November 3, 2009, losing to incumbent Jim Scott.[1]

Christopher Merola is the son of Italian immigrants, whose lives were saved by the US Army during World War II. He is a veteran of the US Army and currently serves as a new media consultant in Washington, DC. He has worked for two Republican members of Congress.
