Christopher Munoz is an at-large representative on the Bayonne School District school board in New Jersey. Munoz won a new term in the at-large general election on November 7, 2017.

Munoz was a 2017 Democratic candidate for the New Jersey General Assembly. He lost the primary election on June 6, 2017.

Biography

Munoz's professional experience includes working as a history teacher at Hoboken High School and as a supervisor of patient access services at Jersey City Medical Center-Barnabas Health. Munoz earned his M.A. in special education from New Jersey City University and his B.A. in history with a minor in political science from New Jersey City University. He also received his teaching certificate from Saint Peter's University.[1]

Three of the nine seats on the Bayonne School District school board in New Jersey were up for at-large general election on November 7, 2017. Incumbent Christopher Munoz, and former candidates Michael Alonso and Maria Valado defeated seven candidates, including incumbent Mikel Lawandy, to win the at-large seats. Newcomers Daniel Acosta, Anthony D'Amico, Dorothy Patterson, and Gene Perry and former candidates John Cupo and Sharma Montgomery were defeated in their election bids.[2]

General election

Elections for the New Jersey General Assembly took place in 2017. All 80 seats were up for election. State assembly members are elected to two-year terms. The general election took place on November 7, 2017. A primary election took place on June 6, 2017. The filing deadline for the primary election was April 3, 2017.[4] Legislative districts in the New Jersey General Assembly are multi-member districts, with two representatives in each district. In Democratic and Republican primary elections, the top two candidates move forward to the general election, and the top two candidates in the general election are declared the winners.[5] Incumbent Angela McKnight (D) and incumbent Nicholas Chiaravalloti (D) defeated Michael Alonso (R) and Lauren DiGiaro (R) in the New Jersey General Assembly District 31 general election.[6][7]
