I was born in Rocky Mount NC and grew up in Kannapolis NC where my parents worked for an orphanage. I joined my local volunteer fire department at 16 and went into law enforcement at 24. I’m a husband to my wife Tina and father to four boys which is a large part of why I am running. As a parent, I feel our education system is not being ran efficiently and we are losing valuable members of our education and support staff. I have dedicated my campaign to resolving both pay and HR issues facing our public educators in NC. I have committed to making our educators feel valued, our children safe, and for NC schools to be a leader of our country in both pay and educational metrics of our students.
  • I am a champion for public education. If elected, I will work to introduce legislation to eliminate state income tax for public K-12 educators and support staff in the state.
  • I am fiscally conservative and commit to keeping NC with a budget surplus and continuing the effort to lower taxes for all North Carolina taxpayers.
  • Specifically in my state senate district, we continue to feel the effects of environmental pollution from businesses upstream of the Haw River. I am committed to strengthening North Carolinas laws regarding mitigating this negative impact on not only our water sources, but our air quality as well.
Education. Specifically public education as it is the backbone of our workforce in North Carolina and we are failing miserably in supporting our local schools.
My dad. There is so much I can say here, but on the political spectrum, my dad is a democrat and I am a republican, however our ideals are closely aligned on the conservative side. We have this extraordinary ability to communicate without saying words and it has always meant a lot to me.

On a personal level, I watched my father leave for work at 4 am, come home and eat dinner and go back to work until late in the evening. He did this to provide for our family of seven and his commitment to our family still impacts me today. He tells me all the time how proud he is of me as a father, but he was the one who set the standard and shows love like few others.
Servant leadership which I have found to be nonexistent in North Carolina. I challenge any resident of this state to reach out to your local state representative and I believe you will find that they do not engage or respond to their constituents. I believe in a government for the people and therefore am committed to listening to our local constituents about policies and processes that are important to them and doing my best to represent the will of the people
First I love our state and the people who make North Carolina what it is. I believe I can work with all legislators to make a positive impact on both our government and the laws enacted to benefit our citizens.

Secondary to the above, I believe I can continue our states recent record of fiscal responsibility while continuing to improve the quality of life for our citizens.
To represent the will of the people to the best of their ability.
Several months ago, I attended the funeral of a white pastor who built a church in the middle of a predominantly African American neighborhood. When I walked into the facility, it was amazing to see and hear the positive impact this man had for all citizens of that community. It felt refreshing to live for a moment free of racial and political stereotypes and just have hundreds of people celebrating the good this man did for those around him.

I think this is a positive legacy in that we can leave this world better than we found it. We can bridge divides and have conversations without becoming enemies. We can all help in times of need. If I can have any legacy, it would be to live like that pastor and bring hope and positivity to those around me.
Rich Dad Poor Dad - Robert Kiyosaki. I think financial intelligence is a foundational necessity in life and I am not convinced that we do enough to educate children and young adults on the value of good financial principles.
We have to find harmony between the governor and legislature. Our current elected representatives appear to take pride in a political divide that I wish to mend. Particularly at this current moment, North Carolinas has just experienced a devastating natural disaster in Hurricane Helene and it is apparent that our government has failed the citizens affected.

True leadership would set aside political differences in this time of need for our citizens. While we can always acknowledge our political ideologies may not align, times such as this should have us united in spirit and resolve to make North Carolina a better state and for our government to serve it citizens to the best of its ability.
Education and infrastructure. With continued growth, the state legislature must make both of these a top priority for the citizens of our state.
Yes. As I have campaigned throughout my district, I remind people every day that we have not once introduced ourselves by our political affiliation. More importantly, our political affiliation should not matter.

We are all North Carolinians and I think it imperative to find ways we can continue to work together through our differences to find compromise that benefits our citizens.
I have a child that has a 504 as part of his education. I have heard countless stories of both parents and children that have been impacted by these programs and these conversations are always special to me as I continue to walk through this with my own child.
I have committed to introducing legislation to eliminate the state income tax for public k-12 educators and support staff. This will be an immediate 4.5% raise if enacted. Clearly there would be more work needed to pay our teachers a living wage, but I believe this is a good faith effort to show I am serious on this topic and allow me the time to work with other legislators on the longer term solution to improve our teacher pay.

I would also like to note we can do this without raising taxes on other taxpayers in North Carolina. The state currently retains a 5 billion dollar surplus in the state budget and we can continue the current corporate tax rate which would alleviate any tax burden to the private citizen.
Financial transparency is key in earning the trust of the citizens of the state. I believe we should do our best to continue to lower the tax burdens on our citizens and be good stewards of the tax revenue available to the state.

Transparency does not just encompass finances, it should cover every course of the business of our state. Being accountable to the citizens of North Carolina is the foundation on which I have built my campaign and will continue this commitment if elected to represent the constituents of my district.
