Zarcone ran for governor of Montana in 2016 as an independent.[1] He competed in the November 8 general election with incumbent Democratic Governor Steve Bullock and his running mate, Mike Cooney; Republican Greg Gianforte and his running mate, Lesley Robinson; Libertarian Ted Dunlap and his running mate, Ron Vandevender; and independent Casey Filler.
