De la Cerda was born and raised in Fresno, California and attended school in the Fresno Unified School District. After graduating from California State University at Fresno, he became an educator and taught in the district. He and his wife have three daughters who also attend schools in the district.[3]

Four seats on the Fresno Unified School District Board of Education were up for general election on November 4, 2014. In the Trustee Area 1 race, incumbent Cal Johnson faced three challengers, Debbie J. Darden, Christiansen L. Flemming and Charles Watkins "Muhammad", and won his bid for re-election. Trustee Area 3 incumbent Valerie Florentino Davis ran against one challenger, Esmeralda Diaz. Davis also won her bid for re-election. In Trustee Area 4, incumbent Christopher de la Cerda ran unopposed and won re-election by default. No incumbents filed to run for the Trustee Area 7 seat, leaving the race to candidates Brooke Ashjian and Ruben V. Martinez. Ashjian defeated Martinez to win a seat on the board.

Results

This election did not appear on the ballot due to lack of opposition. Incumbent Christopher de la Cerda won re-election by default.[2]

Funding

De la Cerda reported $750.00 in contributions and $417.21 in expenditures to the Fresno County Registrar of Voters as of October 18, 2014. In addition to his reported existing balance of $478.37, that left his campaign with $811.16 cash on hand at that time.[4]
