Basye's campaign website highlighted the following issues:
“ |
Education Chuck has always believed education is the silver bullet. He believes that, above anything else, when you invest in education, you return will always be valuable to the state of Missouri. He also believes in making sure school districts and administrators are held accountable for the dollars we send their way. During his time in the Missouri House, Chuck has voted to give more than $250m new dollars to K-12 education while voting for numerous measures to ensure the students are receiving the maximum benefit of those dollars through increased accountability and efficiency measures. Agriculture Missouri’s farmers have long been an important source of our state’s prosperity. Chuck wants to get government out of the way of agriculture so that Missouri farmers and ranchers can build their businesses, compete as exporters, and create jobs. As the state’s #1 industry, it is imperative that the General Assembly knows and understands the importance of agriculture to our daily lives. Higher education Mid-Missouri benefits greatly from a robust and thriving higher education system. Whether it be the University of Missouri’s flagship campus or a great two year option like Moberly Area Community College, Chuck will continue to work to secure more resources for our higher education institutions. We must continue to be mindful of the rising cost of higher education and the student debt bubble, and work together to make sure college is affordable to anyone who wants a degree. Economy As a business owner Chuck sees first-hand the challenges that small businesses are facing today, and knows that we need less governmental interference and lower taxes to keep small business alive and growing. Lower taxes are the key to maintaining the businesses we already have, as well as attracting new ones, to provide jobs for the people of our State. Furthermore, reducing taxes on everyone, not just businesses, will give all Missourians more money to spend as they choose.[8] |

Scorecards
A scorecard evaluates a legislator’s voting record. Its purpose is to inform voters about the legislator’s political positions. Because scorecards have varying purposes and methodologies, each report should be considered on its own merits. For example, an advocacy group’s scorecard may assess a legislator’s voting record on one issue while a state newspaper’s scorecard may evaluate the voting record in its entirety.
Ballotpedia is in the process of developing an encyclopedic list of published scorecards. Some states have a limited number of available scorecards or scorecards produced only by select groups. It is Ballotpedia’s goal to incorporate all available scorecards regardless of ideology or number.
