A vote about whether to recall Chuck Pyle from his elected position as mayor of Luray, Kansas took place on November 6, 2012.[1] York was retained.
Reasons for recall
Bruce Libal was a member of the recall committee. The recall effort was launched after the city closed a street and gave the land to the Rev. Ralph Cotterill and Stream of God Ministries. Stream of God is transforming a public school building into a college for missionaries and a place for summer Bible camps. Pyle was accused of conducting a city meeting in a church. He was also accused of allowing advertisements to be inserted in June city utility bills and allowing a city utility account to miss a payment.[1]
Path to the ballot
In October, 20 signatures on the recall petition were certified.[2]
