Cindy Burleson
Cindy Burleson was a 2014 independent candidate seeking election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Mississippi.[1] She was defeated in the general election by incumbent Steven Palazzo (R) on November 4, 2014.[2]
In 2012, Burleson ran as a Republican candidate who sought election to the U.S. House to represent the 4th Congressional District of Mississippi. She was defeated by incumbent Steve Palazzo in the March 13 primary.[3]
Biography
For the last 15 years, Burleson has served as the CEO and President of the International Sibling Society, a charitable organization that seeks to increase awareness of child abandonment around the world. Upon graduation from the University of Memphis in 1994, Burleson worked as a paralegal and a realtor in the Washington DC area. In 2000, she completed her Master of Arts in Liberal Studies degree at the University of Memphis. For six months in 2004, she also worked for the US Federal Government in Baghdad as a liaison to the Iraqi Ministry of Youth and Sport. From August 2010 through August 2011, she worked as a volunteer for Americorp in Hattiesburg, Mississippi, in a tutoring capacity for 6-8th graders.[4]
