Cindy Frakes
Cindy Frakes represented District 1 on the Okaloosa County School Board in Florida. She was first elected to the office on November 3, 1998. She was defeated by challenger Lamar White in the general election on August 26, 2014.
Biography
Frakes was born in western Texas. She attended Hardin Simmons University for two years and then left the state to complete her undergraduate degree in communication disorders at the University of Oklahoma. She later earned a graduate degree in habilitative science from the University of West Florida. She is a member of the Phi Kappa Phi and Phi Delta Kappa honor societies.[1]
Prior to her time on the school board, Frakes worked as a real estate agent. She still serves as broker and first vice president of American Realty of Northwest Florida, Inc.[2]
Frakes' family includes her husband, Bernie, and their two sons.[1]
Elections
2014
The Okaloosa County general election on August 26, 2014, featured three seats up for election. Cindy Frakes lost her bid for re-election in District 1 to challenger Lamar White. In the District 5 race, incumbent Melissa Thrush defeated challenger David E. Scholl. The District 3 race advanced to the runoff election, which was held on November 4, 2014, as no candidate received 50 percent of the vote. Incumbent Rodney Walker and challenger Joseph Slusser were the top two vote-getters, defeating Christoffer Hyden.
