|Growing up in a small-town in western Iowa, I learned the value of hard work from a young age while working at our family-owned business. I have lived in Omaha for over thirty years and have a career background in human resources, recruitment, and sales.
I currently work from home alongside my husband, Fred. We own a small business offering financial and insurance services for banks and credit unions across the country.
Fred and I are extremely proud of our three children who attend Millard Public Schools. They are involved with many extra-curricular activities including music, sports, service projects, and spending time with friends. They keep us on our toes!
I believe in service, rolling up my sleeves and getting to work for my neighbors and community. I volunteer with many organizations, including The Foodbank for the Heartland and OneWorld Community Center.
I am President of Rank the Vote Nebraska, on the Advisory Board for Nonpartisan Nebraska, and have proudly volunteered as a Nonpartisan Election Observer through Civic Nebraska. Co-founder of the Legislative Study Group, I am an advocate for increasing participation of everyday Nebraskans in the Unicameral's 2nd House.- So much discussion in our society focuses on Red vs. Blue, Rural vs. Urban, Republican vs. Democrat, Conservative vs. Progressive. I will work to rise above these divides and strive for loftier goals that reflect true Nebraskan values.
- I understand we are not as divided as we appear and ask each of us to remember to love our neighbors. I prioritize diversity, equity, and inclusion and know that Nebraskans of good conscience come together to overcome difficulties and that our Legislation must reflect these ideals.
- Friendship, hard-work, stewardship of our land, education, healthy families – These are the things that we all have in common and reflect the priorities we need solutions for.
Nebraska’s greatest resource is our people. Period. Sound fiscal policy and investment is critical, and in order to be competitive, we need to understand what drives hard-working Nebraskans to stay and grow their families here. We must invest in higher education and skills training for new graduates AND experienced people changing careers. Nebraskans deserve good wages, inclusive policies, and affordable childcare – and it’s good for business, too.
Schools
I strongly support public education, including paying our hard-working teachers and school staff competitive salaries. Nebraska’s children deserve a strong foundation upon which to build their future and families. History, science, and critical thinking skills are key priorities for a healthy, thriving, inclusive Nebraska that serves all students. Our children deserve schools that are sustainably funded and equitable.
Property Taxes
Fair, equitable tax policy is a key priority for our District. Nebraska’s reliance on property taxes to fund our local school districts impacts communities across the state. We deserve representatives that will set aside quick fixes and do the work to ensure neighborhoods, businesses, and hard-working families can grow.
