I am a long-time conservative Republican grassroots activist who is running for Congress in TX-07. I am a Christian, wife and mother of two daughters, who owns my own CPA small business. I am a four term former Mayor of Bellaire, Tx. I believe in our country's founding principles of faith, family and freedom. I am running to fight for all of our families future and to support the President's conservative policies to keep America great.
  • I will fight to preserve our country's fundamental principles that are based upon the values of faith, family and freedom
  • I will fight to represent the people of TX District 7 and the issues like flood mitigation, securing our borders and healthcare reform that are important to them. I am not running to represent the Washington elite.
  • I am a problem solver and will bring my experience as a CPA and business owner to resolve issues like balancing our budget and reducing our national debt that have immediate and long-term results for our country.
As a CPA and fiscal conservative, I am especially passionate about the implementation of conservative fiscal policy - ie, reducing taxes and regulations, balancing the budget and reducing national debt. Other areas relate to issues that are of importance to the voters of TX. District 7 - like disaster recovery as it relates to funding for flood mitigation projects, securing the border, immigration reform and healthcare reform.
I look up to my parents (who are no longer alive). They were part of the Greatest American Generation. My father was a WWII veteran. I learned my Christian values from both parents and the belief that we live in the greatest country from my father. Both of my parents taught by example that we should always live by our values and do the right thing. Also, that we had a responsibility to give back to our country by voting and doing our part by giving back to our community.
I believe that it is important for an elected official to have well-defined values that they have lived their lives by and will guide them while they are in office and how they represent their constituents. For me, my core values are based upon my Christian beliefs and a belief in the values that our country was founded upon -faith, family and freedom. We have all seen elected officials that didn't have a set of core values like honesty, hard work, and faith. They end up not standing for anything and forget the people who put them in office. Additionally, as a conservative Republican, I believe it is important to believe in the principles of limited government and personal freedom in order to create effective legislation. Lastly, a love for our country and an understanding of our country's history is important to help guide the elected official as they perform their duties.
As a CPA, integrity is important to me and my profession. Additionally, I am in a profession that requires strong communication and analytical skills. To succeed I have had to work long hours and have pulled my share of "all-nighters" in order to get the job done. As a four-term former Mayor of Bellaire, I led through two hurricanes and under more trying circumstances than the average small mayor in our country might face. As a mother of two daughters and, like any parent, I have had to exercise patience and wisdom when raising them and courage to know when to let them make decisions of their own.

I believe the sum of these experiences demonstrate the qualities that I possess and have helped me succeed as a mother, CPA and former elected official. The qualities that I possess that I believe will help me in representing the people of TX District 7 are that I am a hard worker, analytical, effective communicator, patient, passionate about our country, and committed to fighting and doing the best for the people that I would represent. I have strong Christian core values that I try to live my life by. Living my life and representing the people who elect me with integrity is critical.

I recently received a text from a former constituent. He said, "When I've described politicians to my kids or anyone else for that matter over the years, I've always used you as an example of integrity and doing things the right way." I was touched and honored that he believes that about me and I would continue that same standard if elected to represent the people of TX District 7.
I worked for AT&T in marketing when I first came to Houston. I worked there for three years prior to going back to college to get an MBA in finance and accounting.
The Bible. Where else can you find so many exciting stories that are about the trials and tribulations of humanity and provide the best guidance for living your life?
What makes the US House of Representatives unique is how it operates and the role it plays within the federal government as part of the legislative branch. A representative can bring forth legislation but must also rely upon "getting the votes" necessary to have an impact and accomplish something for his or her constituents. So, the representative "represents" the interests of their constituents, while balancing that with the interests of the country.
Yes. Each representative is up every two years, so I believe that having government experience can help a new representative hit the ground running with limited learning curve. Additionally, having a working knowledge on how to create legislation and avoid unintended results is important. Also, experience and knowledge of the issues and how to get the votes necessary to pass legislation makes a new representative more effective sooner - rather than later.
I think the greatest challenges facing our country are now not only from outside, but from within our country. There are people who want to fundamentally change the basic foundation that our country was founded upon. They are pushing our country towards socialism by promoting policies that would bankrupt our country. Additionally, I believe that our country is approaching a financial cliff with a crushing national debt of $23 trillion and rising. All of these challenges point to a future for our children that will be vastly different from the one we have unless we elect people who are willing to fight for that future and make the tough decisions.
Ways and Means, Budget , Energy and Commerce, and Transportation and Infrastructure
No. I think the term should be 4 years and there should be term limits of 8 years.
I support term limits. I think the longer people serve in Washington - the more they forget about their constituents and start representing DC special interests and big donors.
Yes, possibly, as a committee chairman. My focus and what is most important to me, though, is to represent the voters of TX District 7 and their interests.
I like Fmr. Representative Trey Gowdy and Rep. Steve Scalise. I have heard Rep. Scalise speak after he was shot and was impressed with his courage. I like Fmr. Rep. Gowdy's ability to analyse and articulate clearly positions that he holds. Both are bright, articulate and conservative.
A couple who own the small business that they bought from the prior owner. They work long hours and many times don't take a salary when business declines in order to avoid laying employees off. This couple employs approximately 15 people. They follow the law, employ people who can legally work in this country, they pay their taxes and support their family. They told me how they get undercut on pricing by competitors who employ people who don't have a permit to work in this country. This is an example of how the small business owner is impacted by lack of action at a federal level.

Campaign website

Siegel’s campaign website stated the following:

FLOODING

The seemingly never-ending delays in federal funds making it to TX-07 are ridiculous. As someone who has experienced firsthand the devastation flooding has caused the residents of TX-07, I will fight every day to ensure the money allocated for our District not only gets delivered, but is spent in a “worst first” manner. Our aging dams, reservoirs and bayous must be addressed. I will also support a third reservoir if experts agree it would be a help to alleviate our area flooding.

Beyond Federal projects, it is imperative that local projects be completed to support the Federal effort. The money from the county’s flood bonds must be spent wisely, focusing on “worst first” priorities. Additionally, the city of Houston must transparently account for the “rain tax” or drainage fee. One hundred percent of the money collected should go directly to drainage projects, not pet projects for whoever happens to be Mayor.

IMMIGRATION & BORDER SECURITY

We are a nation of immigrants, legal immigrants. The reality is our immigration system is broken. I support the President’s move to a more merit based system and our asylum laws are in desperate need of updating. I firmly believe that we should embrace the 1,000,000+ / year legal immigrants who wait in line, work hard and ultimately achieve the greatest prize on earth – American Citizenship. We must never provide amnesty in order to reduce the number of illegals living in this country. We must enforce the laws that already exist to do that. It is imperative that we build a border wall, along with strong electronic barriers and monitoring to deter the tens of thousands of illegals from coming across our Southern border. We must also ensure that those living in this country illegally do not receive any benefits that hard-working American citizens are eligible for.

HEALTHCARE

First, I am vehemently opposed to Medicare for All. Although the individual mandate has been removed, the remnants of Obama Care continue to do nothing but drive prices up. All of Obama Care must be repealed and replaced with free-market solutions. Burdensome regulations and mandates on states and employers must be removed. Transparency in pricing by healthcare providers would be tremendous downward pressure on prices. The power of the consumer to shop for lab work, an MRI or elective surgery would undoubtedly improve service and reduce prices. Additionally, we must pass legislation to allow consumers to buy health insurance across state lines. Any and all policies must be free-market in scope and focus on choice for the consumer - leaving healthcare decisions to patients and their doctors, not government bureaucrats.

LIFE

I am ProLife. Seeing the flicker of and hearing my oldest daughter's heart beat on the monitor after almost losing her at 6 weeks, reaffirmed to me that life begins in the womb.

Government Accountability (Drain the swamp!)

Term Limits for U. S. House and Senate

I am absolutely in favor of sensible term limits for both the House and Senate. Anyone spending 30, 40 or 50+ years in Congress is not at all what our founding fathers intended.

Laws passed by Congress must apply to members of Congress and their staff

Why should Congress impose laws on the rest of us but exempt themselves from having to abide by those same laws? It’s time for members of Congress to come down from their ivory tower and live by all the laws the rest of us are forced to live with.

Balanced Budget Amendment to the U. S. Constitution

I will support a Balanced Budget Amendment. It has become obvious that Congress has no intention of being fiscally responsible. The only way to restore sanity when it comes to spending is to force them to do it by an Amendment.

Congressional Pay Raise

Some in Congress have proposed borrowing money to pay for a Congressional pay raise. Absolutely no pay raise for Congress until the budget is balanced and there has been a real, significant reduction in the national debt.

2ND AMENDMENT

"A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed." – The United States Constitution

Our right to defend ourselves was so important to our founding fathers that they made it #2 in the original Bill of Rights. You can be sure that it ranks in that order with me as well. I will not ever succumb to the radical left’s agenda of confiscating guns from law abiding American citizens. [2]
