Ciro Rodriguez
Ciro Rodriguez was a Precinct 1, Place 2 judge in Bexar County, Texas. He was elected in 2014 and retired from the court on September 30, 2021.[1] Rodriguez was a 2012 Democratic candidate who sought election to the U.S. House representing the 23rd Congressional District of Texas.[2]
In February 2021, Rodriguez received a public warning from the Texas Commission on Judicial Conduct for engaging in activities to support his daughter’s 2020 campaign for Texas State Senate.[1]
Biography
Rodriguez earned his B.A. in political science from Saint Mary's University in 1973. He went on to receive his M.S.W. from Our Lady of the Lake University in 1976. Rodriguez has worked as a social worker, an instructor, and the owner of Rio Strategies. Rodriguez formerly served in both the Texas House of Representatives and the U.S. House.[3]

2012
Rodriguez ran in the 2012 election for the U.S. House, representing Texas' 23rd District. He and Pete Gallego defeated John Bustamante in the Democratic primary on May 29, 2012. He was then defeated in the runoff by Gallego.[4][5][6]

According to a July 2010 analysis of 1,357 votes cast from January 1, 2009, to June 16, 2010, Rodriguez voted with the House Democratic leadership 98.9% of the time.[8] That same analysis reported that he also voted with party leadership 97.7% of the time in 2010.

A separate analysis from The Washington Post from July 23, 2010, concluded that he voted 98.2% of the time with a majority of Democrats in the House of Representatives.[9]
