City attorney appointed in Denver

Colorado: Wednesday, new Mayor Michael Hancock announced the appointment of Doug Friednash as city attorney for Denver. Friednash is an attorney in private practice, but has also served in the Colorado House of Representatives from 1992 to 1996. Of the appointment, he said, "I think this is the greatest job an attorney can have in the state. The intersection of public policy, politics and law is kind of the key aspect of this job."[1]
In Denver, the City Attorney's Office represents a number of positions and departments, including: the Mayor, the Auditor, the Clerk and Recorder, City Council and all city departments, boards and commissions. About 90 attorneys are employed by the office.[2]
