Voters in Horace, North Dakota recalled city councilmembers Bryan Schmidt and David Fenelon in an election on March 9, 2021. Challengers Naomi Burkland and Jeffrey Trudeau both won seats on the four-member council.[1]
The filing deadline for candidates to appear on the ballot to replace Schmidt and Fenelon passed January 4, 2021.[2]
Recall vote
A special election was held on March 9, 2021. Three candidates challenged Schmidt and Fenelon for their seats on the council.

Naomi Burkland and Jeffrey Trudeau defeated incumbent David Fenelon, incumbent Bryan Schmidt, and Zachariah Lee in the general election for Horace City Council At-Large on March 9, 2021.

Recall supporters
The recall effort was led by a five-member committee. One of the members, Martin Hochhalter, cited Schmidt and Fenelon's failure to represent residents' interests and listen to their opinions as reasons for the recall.[2]
Recall opponents
Both Schmidt and Fenelon expressed surprise at the recall effort. Both councilmembers were re-elected to their seats unopposed in June 2020.[2]
