An election to recall City Councilwoman Velma Cline and five other members of the city council of Statesville, North Carolina, was held on September 19, 1963. Voters recalled all six members.[1]

Recall supporters
The recall effort was initiated following a unanimous vote by the city council to integrate the city's two public swimming pools.[1]
Path to the ballot
At the time of the recall effort, the city ordinance governing the number of signatures to trigger a recall election required signatures equal to at least 25% of the votes cast in the most recent mayoral election. For the 1963 recall, this was 556 signatures.[1][2]
