The City of Carson mayoral election was held on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, to elect the mayor of the City of Carson, California, in Los Angeles County.
Incumbent mayor Jim Dear won the election for his third full term as Mayor of Carson. Dear was first elected to the office of mayor in a special election held in March 2004. He was subsequently re-elected to a normal four-year term in March 2005 and again in March 2009.[1]
The position of mayor of the City of Carson is nonpartisan, as per Section 6 of Article II of the California Constitution.
The deadline to file to run for the office was December 10, 2012.
Carson had a population of 91,714 as of the 2010 census. It is located 13 miles south of downtown Los Angeles and approximately 14 miles away from the Los Angeles International Airport. Carson was incorporated on February 20, 1968.
