City of Colusa Sales Tax, Measures A and B (November 2008)
Two City of Colusa Sales Tax ballot questions, Measures A and B, were on the November 4, 2008 ballot for voters in the City of Colusa in Colusa County, California.
Measure A was defeated. Measure B was very narrowly approved (by two votes); however, since it was a purely advisory measure that required the approval of Measure A to be relevant, the fact that it was approved is moot.
Measure A would have imposed a transactions and use tax (commonly known as a sales tax) of one-quarter of one percent, in addition to the 7.25% sales tax that was in effect at that time in the City of Colusa. Measure B asked the voters whether the revenue from Measure A, if Measure A passed, should be earmarked to support police and fire employee benefits in the City of Colusa.
