A Removal of Park Property from Park System Question was on the ballot for Kansas City voters in Jackson County, Missouri, on April 7, 2015. It was approved.
Question 1 removed a vacant lot located at 534 Highland Avenue from the city's park system. The Board of Parks and Recreation Commissioners stated the property in question was no longer appropriate for park use.[1]
The question was designed to allow the city to sell the land for an estimated $150,000 to the Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, helping the university to carry out its campus improvement plan.[2]

Editorials
- The Kansas City Star editorial board wrote an article endorsing both Question 1 and Question 2. The editorial argued that the land in question would help improve the nearby campus and was not serving a vital purpose to the city in its vacant form. An excerpt of the article is below:[2]
“ |
The Star recommends a “yes” vote on a plan to sell almost 2.5 acres of vacant property near 534 Highland Ave. The park board supports the sale of the land for $150,000 to the nearby Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences in the Northeast area. As they have on several occasions in the past, voters must make the final decision on whether property is no longer needed and may be removed from the city’s parks and boulevard system. In this case, the university’s control of the land would help carry out its master plan for campus improvements.[3] |
